Imma Buldú-Freixa was born in Barcelona. In 1987 she graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona with a degree in Economics and Business Administration and later took postgraduate studies in Communication & Public Relations.
Imma Buldú-Freixa worked in the Chambers of Commerce of Middelburg and Hengelo, in the Netherlands, as project manager to promote Catalan exports. Then she took up a traineeship in External Relations at the European Commission, specializing in Trade policy on textiles and clothing. In 1989 she joined the Regional representation of Catalonia in Brussels (Patronat Català Pro Europa) where she held various responsibilities and where she was Head of Office from 1995 to 2006. In 2006 she joined the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the EU, where she obtained a broad expertise in regional lobby and in participation of European regions in the EU legislative process. In 2009, she took responsibility for the Unit of Communication and Events, with the launch of Espai Catalunya Europa, branding Catalonia at EU level. At present, she is also Coordinator and Head of Institutional Relations at the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the EU. Imma Buldú-Freixa has been invited speaker in numerous seminars and conferences on regional representation and regional lobby. In 2010 she participated, as academic secretary, in the design and organization of the course Regional Branding in the EU 2020 (Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo). Imma Buldú-Freixa is member of the Team Europe of the European Commission. She speaks Catalan & Spanish, English, French, Modern Greek, and she has a knowledge of Dutch, German and Italian.
